Another good field for Round 3 of the Friday Night Biathlon series, 16 starters in the main race and 7 in the kids' race.
For the second race in a row it was a Hannah leading the way in the kids race, this time it was Hannah Haldenby.
Like Hannah Jeppesen a fortnight earlier she had the quickest swim and run times.
It's good to see a number of kids racing regularly as well as a few new ones each time.
Well done to all the kids!
The main race saw the same top 3 as a fortnight earlier, with the top 2 going even quicker than last round which had been the fastest HTC Biathlon since December 2007!
In the water, there were again a number of swims around the 8 minute mark but this time only one under.
Jared improved on his previous time by 5 seconds to record a 7:24.
The rest of the final wave finished within a couple of metres of each other with Wally, Stewart and Adrian recording 8:02, 8:06 & 8:08 respectively.
The run leg saw 5 competitors improve their split from the previous round including top 2 Jared and Stewart.
Jared joined Stewart under 15 minutes and Tony improved by 25 seconds.
Series Points: Of the 12 that finished the main race there were 10 members - 2 racing for the first time as members and 8 with handicaps to improve upon.
A big range in times this week compared to handicaps with some well under and some well over.
Karen was the only female to finish Round 3 and was also the clear points winner, racing 4.3% quicker than her handicap.
Next was Jon Sharp with a 3.6% improvement and then Tony and Dane with improvements of around 1.5%.
After 3 impressive rounds Wally has taken the lead with 72 points with Michael's steady efforts pushing him back into second (63).
Cath's volunteer points see her in third (61) just one point above Adrian with Tony a further point back (59).
Second in the ladies race is Lisa who sits in 8th with 40 points.
Full points leaderboard and list of current handicap times is here.
Well done to everyone especially all newcomers and all the kids.
Thanks to all the volunteers for helping out with refreshments, timing, and keeping everyone safe out on the run course.
