A great turnout for the first biathlon of the summer series.
We had 17 starters in the main race and 7 kids have a go in the mini race prior.
First up was the kids. They did a variety of swim distances and then all ran together until near the end when they raced down the hill to the finish line.
The swim times are below. Well done to all the kids!
In the main game, two of the youngsters - Jeff and Ben - lead the way in the water with the only sub-8 minute swims, 7:40 and 7:50 respectively.
Next best were Adrian and Wally at just over 8 minutes. The fastest ladies in the water were Natalie and first-timer Kath with 9:35 and 9:44 respectively.
The run leg saw the older gentlemen stamp their authority, more or less. Wally had a lightning transition which helped him to a 15:45 run split.
Second run split went to Tony Nicklin and young Ben Moss did an awesome 16:23 run which was enough to get him second outright.
Some great racing saw Wally the outright winner and places 3 to 8 all finish between 26 and 27 minutes with just a few seconds separating each of them.
Series Results: Of the 15 that completed the main race there were 12 members, 9 of whom had handicaps from last season.
The other 3 picked up 5 points for their first race and scored themselves a handicap time for next time.
Some mixed results for the members with handicaps from last season.
Cath Hume's time of 32:29 was an improvement of over 5% on her handicap time and saw her score the maximum 30 points to start the season.
With improvement's of over 4% were Michael McGeachie and Jon Sharp who picked up 28 and 26 points respectively.
Jeff and Wally had improvement's of slightly over 3% and 1% respectively.
The rest of the members were slightly slower than their handicap.
Full points leaderboard and list of current handicap times is here.
Well done to everyone especially newcomers Simon, Kath, Amanda, Dane & Rinaldo and also to all the youngsters who had a go.
Thanks to all the volunteers for helping out with refreshments, timing, and keeping everyone safe out on the run course.
