A scorching day cooled off just enough to make the 8th Aquathlon of the summer just bearable for competitors.
As expected, given the weather, we had another good field and this time we had a massive kids field as well.
For the first time ever, the kids had to be split up into wave starts like the adults.
The 11 kids did well given the heat and recorded some good times.
More importantly they all had a great time again.
Thanks again to Wally for timing them and to Jackie for helping out at the end so Wally could race himself.
Well done kids!
The main race saw 4 first timers plus a swag of regulars.
the tough conditions meant we only had two Series PBs set for those weren't racing for the first time this summer.
Well done to Stewart and Jeppo, who also took first and third overall respectively.
The best of the first timers was Sam who had a very impressive all around effort to take 6th place.
Michelle also impressed in her first up effort taking the fastest female swim split.
At the pointy end of the field we had Emiel, Wally & Stewart all under 8 minutes on the swim with only Emiel being knocked off the podium (by Andrew J) on the run.
Further back in the pack we had 5 ladies within 62 seconds of each other.
First timer - and our youngest competitor in the main race - Sarah picked up 15th, just 13 seconds ahead of Elicia, with Elissa a further 12 seconds back.
Series Points: Of our 23 starters we had 14 members racing, 3 for the first time (who picked up 5 points each).
The tough conditions saw only 3 members beat their handicap time - Jeppo by 1.4% and Stewart and Elissa by a little under 1%.
With the Top 8 after Round 7 all racing this time around none of those positions changed.
Tony's lead inched out to 4 points over Nev whose lead over Adrian increased to 22 points.
Cath continues to lead the ladies' race. Her lead over Lisa is now 10 points with Wally wedged in the middle for 5th outright.
Elicia moved into 7th on her own relegating Michael to 8th.
Both Andrews moved into the top 10, with El Presidente taking 9th with 90 points, just 1 point clear of Jeppo.
Full points standings and list of current handicap times is here.
Well done to everyone in the difficult conditions and as usual a big thanks to all the volunteers.
Here are the full results.
